Purchasing Assistant


Miller Formless was founded in 1970 as a leading provider of mid-sized automated paving systems and other products.  Located in McHenry, Illinois, the company operates out of an 80,000+ square foot manufacturing facility and continues to provide the same quality product and service it pioneered in the 1960s.  Its machines are currently in use throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Central America, Asia, and Australia.


  • Provide administrative support for the Production Planner, including inventory maintenance, inventory reporting, and plant labels and tags
  • The Purchasing Assistant manages day-to-day duties while acting as administrative support to the Production Planner
  • Assist with the data entry process in Excel and ERP System
  • As necessary – help run/track and manage reports, update operations reports as needed, work on projects for creating reports, etc.


  • Provide administrative support for the Production Planner, including communication and report generation
  • Produce and distribute weekly reports and alter them as directed
  • Input all work orders and receipts efficiently
  • Assist with the following of deliveries and inventory
  • Update vendor and company price list
  • Maintain records and filing for the Production Planner
  • Coordinate with the Production Planner for proper inventory status, invoicing, scheduling, etc.
  • Complete work within the appropriate timeframe to prevent a backlog
  • Maintain a high standard of quality for all work performed
  • Use of Excel and ERP program to update system, orders, and schedules to respond to business needs
  • Review Work Orders and promptly report production issues to minimize delays in production
  • Participate in the development of the production schedule
  • Evaluating work orders to create suitable production schedules
  • Creating and maintaining work orders in ERP System
  • Perform other duties as needed


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of ERP system
  • Demonstrates ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks without guidance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Punctual with strong attendance history
  • Must adhere to confidentiality expectations
  • Ability to multi-task and manage details of different processes efficiently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently, seek answers when help is needed, and be motivated to seek out additional tasks for completion
  • Ability to quickly pick up new software and tools
