Job Tasks:

• Hammers, chips, and grinds workpiece
• Verifies workpiece to specifications using square, ruler and measuring tape
• Assist in the setup and operation of machine tools associated with metal forming, such as a brake press, punch press, and shear
• Handling and moving objects – Using hands, and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials or processes

Required Knowledge:

• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals preferred
• Good at math
• Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
• Basic knowledge of hand tools

Willing to learn:

• Problem Sensitivity – The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
• Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand the specifications of the output
• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
• Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
• Select appropriate machines and position or load material and identify issues
• Monitor machine while working to identify issues
• Check output to ensure consistency and specifications and discard defects

Credentials and Experience:

• Mathematics – Using mathematics to solve problems
• Equipment Selection – Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
• Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents

Specific Requirements (established by Supervisor)

• Willing to work overtime and/or Saturdays as requested by Foreman
• Work well with others
• On time and good attendance
• Maintain a positive attitude
